History Of World Water Day

Water Day was proposed on Agenda 22 of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. In December of the same year, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring March 22 as Water Day. A day dedicated to raising awareness of water issues around the world with a focus on ensuring that all communities have access to clean water sources. It has been held every year since the first Water Day in March 1993.

Because of the need for clean water and proper sanitation for all, Water Day was born. The United Nations has decided to celebrate Water Day to address the problem of clean water and sanitation that is spreading around the world. The purpose of Water Day is to provide a day to focus on helping and supporting communities around the world to ensure that people have access to safe, clean water and safe sanitation.

National Water Day also focuses on how ordinary people can help other affected communities regain their dignity through access to clean, safe water, improving long-term health and well-being. This year water is day is on march 22 Wednesday.
