The way of celebrating Vishu in kerala is different from Tamil Nadu. there they call this day "tamil puthand".

Vishu is one of the biggest Hindu festivals in Kerala and is usually celebrated in the month of April. According to the Malayalam calendar, Vishu is the first day of the month of Medam and the beginning of the first sign of the zodiac, Aries. It marks the equinox in the solar calendar and usually falls in the second week of April in the British calendar. Vishu is the most important day in Malay life. It marks the beginning of new hopes and aspirations and is widely celebrated throughout the state. People are very interested in rituals that will bring prosperity and success in the coming year.

It is held on the first day of the Malayalam month of Medam (mid-April), which marks the traditional spring. when day and night are of equal length. Indeed, Vishu means equal in Sanskrit. The reason for the difference is that the sun, rising in the constellation Aries, was used to observe the equinoxes. Due to the movement of the Earth, this date changes over the centuries, indicating the great age of this holiday. The exhibition, called Vishukani Made by Vishu, consists of flowers, vegetables, fruits, a traditional lamp, metal mirrors, coins, rice, sacred texts, and other items placed in a metal vessel called an uruli. Next to it is a burning metal bell lamp called nilavilakku. Vishukani are placed in homes and temples in front of idols of Hindu deities, usually Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna.

Vishukani

During the day, the mother or elder family member gets up early to light the lamp after the ritual bath. He then wakes up each member of the family at the same time, covers their eyes with his hands and orders them to see Vishukani in order to receive the blessings of Lord Krishna. It is believed that the first glance, like a reflection in a metal mirror, will bring prosperity and happiness for many years to come.

Story of Vishu

Vishu is surrounded by several legends. According to one version, Vishu is the day when Lord Krishna killed a demon named Narakasura. According to another version, Vishu is celebrated as the return of the sun god Surya Deva. According to Ravana, the demon king prevented Surya Dev from rising in the east. It was on the day of Vishu, after the death of Ravana (spoiler - killed by Rama during Dussehra), the sun began to rise from the east. in vishu day because of krishna killed narakasura people use to do firewroks in each and evry home in kerala. but in tamilnadu its just their new month begining and they will not do celebrate like how celebrating vishu in kerala. in keral not only fireworks but it is almost like how we celebrate dewali celebration.
